Your Google Document Link can be mistaken as a Phishing link
With the number of cybercrimes increasing each day, more and more people are being careful about the links that they are clicking on. A lot of HR’s may consider your resume link as a phishing link and choose to not to open the link. Besides an HR already receives a lot of resumes for one position, he is not going to lose much by not clicking on your link.
Company Firewall Policies may not allow
A lot of companies have strict firewall policies and do not allow external websites to open within their network environment. In this case, even if the HR clicks on your resumes link his firewall may not allow him to access your resume. And the only person at loss here is you.
You sometimes don’t give permissions to download the resume
Many times we share the resume link, but forget to grant access to your resume. In this case, do not expect the HR to request for it. He/she may simply move to the next candidate.
ATS may not parse your resume
Almost all reputed organizations have an Applicant Tracking System in place. This means the software will screen your resume first and then an HR will have a look at it. In case you are sharing a link to your resume, the software will just omit your email. Your resume will not even reach HR in this case.
Spam rules of the HR’s email
A lot of companies have strict email filters which means sometimes, emails containing web links from non-contacts lend directly in the spam box of the person it is sent to. Again your recruiting HR may not even receive your resume.
You are wrong by playing one size fits it all
If you just share the link of your resume every time, you are playing the game of sharing the same resume to all the jobs. This is the wrong strategy. You must read the job description of the job that you are applying to. Modify the resume accordingly and then send it to the respective hiring HR. Blindly sharing the link means not being aware of the job details and setting up yourself for rejection.
